Sanity as a service: marketing gone mad

There's been much ado over Dell's (thus far unsuccessful) attempt to grab a large slice of the cloud computing landscape ('clown computing' is still available, thanks Dave), but it seems this is just the tip of the iceberg. Here's some other gems:
Here's seven other IT terms that shouldn't be trademarked, and if you want to see if your favourite buzzword is under fire you can do so yourself with USPTO's Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)

  1. Great post.

I wonder when Software As a Service Integration (TM) or better known as SaaSI (TM) to tie all these disparate services together will catch on.

Anyone want to fund my business plan???

  3. Yawn. Clown computing will become interesting when I can have some RaaS (Reliability as a Service) and some PaaS (Performance as a Service), but those don't seem to be on the list. All the snake-oil peddlers can just give me BJaaS until then.

  4. Seriously, isn't there any way that we can get Obama to recognize that Patent and Trademark abuse is a real threat to the country's commerce and it's economic recovery?

I wonder, has anyone from the technology sector ever tried talking with him about this? Is he even aware of the issue? They want to shut down the IRS, why not the USPTO too? WTF keeps that broken antique going?
