I will tell you this about Vista.

I tested a Vista system to copy direct from a 1 GB MP3 player to a 1 GB flash drive.

Vista choked & said there was no more disk space, halfway through (there was still 500 mb free!)

I could copy in smaller batches, & Vista would then work.

Don't even get me started on other Vista problems, or the fact that Vista is built on TCP, DRM, & other user unfriendly platforms.

Give me XP any day! You can make DX 10 work under XP, change the XP Theme files to nearly any kind you want (including XP Media Center *Royal*, or W7-ish, Vista-ish, OSX-ish, etc).

Besides this, the copy operation worked fast, error free under XP. XP will run nearly anything you throw at it.

It's interesting that you should read a detailed review of the entire history of Windows operating systems and then claim that "I've barely used it, if at all".

I'm sure that there is a small pocket of vista victims who are more than happy with it, as is the case with anything, but what is sure is that it lacked mass market appeal. NT[4] was the last 'real' windows release and it's good to see we're finally going back to basics after getting carried away with graphics (Aero), DRM, etc.

Why people say Vista sucks is beyond me. I've been using it for about two years, and it's never given me any problems. I guess that's how people are. "I heard that it sucks, so it must. Now I'll tell everyone that it sucks, even though I've barely used it, if at all."
