Sam is an Australian technology executive and serial entrepreneur with 20 years experience founding and advising startups and working at industry leaders including CSC, Google, Citrix, and Equinix.
Sam is currently chief technology officer at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) ANZ, where he is responsible for driving the development of next generation technology solutions to benefit clients’ digital transformations. He focuses on securing and growing CSC’s largest and most strategic accounts, and actively contributes to the product roadmap, innovation, and prototyping of next generation technologies. He is also a subject matter expert and thought leader, regularly representing the company at international events.
Sam previously served in London as director of Cloud and IT Services at Equinix, setting and executing their cloud strategy, working on the design and delivery of new products and services including Cloud Exchange, as well as global accounts, partnerships, and public, analyst and investor relations.
Prior to Equinix, Sam worked in Zürich as the Technical Program Manager for Google’s nearline and offline storage service, a global Internet scale storage system. He also worked with teams and vendors on servers, software, robotics, networks, and data centers, and was the cloud standards lead, having published a peer-reviewed paper on interoperability.
Previously, Sam founded Australian Online Solutions, a boutique consulting firm in Sydney with clients including Fairfax, News, Sanofi, and Yahoo. In this role, he oversaw strategic consulting engagements on cloud computing, including pilots and deployments, as well as developed early research, documentation, advocacy, and standards for cloud computing.
Sam was also co-founder and chief technology officer at Revevol in Paris, the first Google Enterprise Partner in Europe, global escalation engineer at Citrix Systems in Dublin and Silicon Valley, and system administrator and academic at the University of New South Wales. His early career began at Telstra Corporation Limited in Sydney where he was involved with the system management of the rollout of Australia’s first digital mobile network.
Sam holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New South Wales, is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and has attained various vendor certifications from Citrix, Microsoft and VMware amongst others.
